Why does mouthwash burn the inside of my mouth and lips?

Alcohol and possibly bleeding gum.Often times people brush with too hard a bristle and end up scratching and ripping their gum up. Like rubbing a cut with alcohol wipes, it stings like hell. Why does mouthwash burn the inside of my mouth and lips?
Because germs don't go quietly. Seriously though, most mouthwashs contain both alcohol and thymol, and alcohol wil have a warm burning sensation, and thymol is caustic, so, those two are the ones that help clear up gingivitis and whatnot, so thats whats burningWhy does mouthwash burn the inside of my mouth and lips?
Its the alcohol I believe, try the new Pro Health mouth wash, it is alcohol free and doesn't burn like that. I can't handle the burning feeling so I switched to that and it is so much better:)
almost all mouthwash has alcohol in it so if you have open sores in your mouth, it will burn more. try buying an alcohol - free mouthwash.
alcohol burns
