my lips are constantly dry and flaky. i use chapstick religiously to take care of this problem but it only seems to soothe for the short time its on. it seems like they've gotten worse since i started using chapstick - could i be becoming ';dependent';?!

Yes, chapstick contains petroleum jelly which sucks the moisture out of the deeper layers of the skin to hydrate the top, in the end there will be no moisture left...I recommend finding a balm that doesn't contain it, something from burt's bees or smacker's, maybe.Can your lips become ';dependent'; on chapstick?
yea they can come 'dependant' on a product. just try to use carmex, or vasaline.
