Why do cats have black lips?

Not all cats have black lips, it's just part of each ones individual coloring. More importantly, look inside at the roof of their mouth. Black on the roof of a cats mouth is usually a sign that they will be fairly intelligent. Why do cats have black lips?
Skin colour and fur colour correspond in cats, so if you have a cat with dark fur, the underlying skin will also be dark. For example our brown cat has black paw-pads, nose and lips, whereas our red/white cat has pink paw-pads, nose and lips. To top it off, our black and white farm cats outside have both colours present, all depending on what colour the surrounding fur is.Why do cats have black lips?
My cat has pink lips.
Not all cats have black lips. Its just a coloration that is part of the cats genes. One of my cats have spots on their lips (kinda cute).
i have always wondered if my cat was the only one that had black spots on his lips lol that dont come off lol.

I'm glad to know i am not the only one.But i suppose it has to do with genes - just like cats are all diff colors.

p.s. God wanted it that way! the answer is because God said so!
