If any impurity is added to a solvent ,its boiling point comes down..
So when you boil tea it is not actually at 100 degree...
:)Why doesn't hot tea burn your lips if the boiling point of water is 100 degrees celsius?
The temperature probably isn't at 100 degrees celsius when you go to drink it. The milk, temperature of the cup and room temperature will cool the heat. Why doesn't hot tea burn your lips if the boiling point of water is 100 degrees celsius?
well from when you take it off the temperature starts to cool down to the rooms temperature.
Perhaps you add milk, the milk will also cool it down a little
Because the milk cools it down.....assuming you have milk in your tea
If the tea was at 100 degrees C, it would burn your lips. By the time you get to drink it, it's cooled down a bit.
By the time you've poured the tea, put milk in etc, the water has cooled down due to contact with cold air, cold cup, and cold milk.
As soon as the source of heat is removed (ie. the kettle is switched off) the water will rapidly cool.
Um...because most likely, you're not drinking tea at it's boiling point. If you were, the tea would be bubbling as you drink it and you'd definitely be burned.
cause its not at 100 degrees when ur drinking it.. by the time its reaches your cup to your lips its already cooled......:)
it does!!! and i should know, i love tea haha
You may notice that you 'Sip' anything hot.
Hot tea is generally 'Sipped' and, as you sip it, you suck in some cool air with it. This takes heat out of your lips into the tea as it increases its evaporation on entering your mouth.
Taking a good slurp of hot tea will burn.
(To those that say it's not at 100掳C. We know that but, at about 65掳C and above, tea or water or any other hot drink can scald the skin, especially the delicate skin of the lips).
The mouth has less pain receptors than other parts of the body making it more tolerant to heat
Some of the heat is absorbed by the cup, some is lost to the air. If the tea contains milk or cream that will also lower the temperature. People tend to sip their tea slowly until it has cooled down. If you gulp it down straight from the pot then you will burn...big time !
Because by the time the tea has brewed and you have added milk it is below 100 degrees c. I you tried to drink boiling water from the kettle you would burn your self
While drinking tea , its not 100 celsius. water boils at 100, it does not stay at 100 after u stop the gas.
