Can i use vaseline or aquaphor or any type of natural product like that? i just got the peircing yesterday, and it's winter, so with the swelling and the cold, my lips are killing more because their chapped, and not from the peircing, any way i can help this without prolonging the healing process?I got a vertical labret, and my lips are so chapped, help!?
Because it's a vertical, you have to be more careful than people wit standard lip/labret piercings. Vasline would be bad since it's soooo greasy and petroleum based. The aquaphor looks more suitable. Even chap stick isn't as greasy as vaseline. I would just be very careful applying it. I'd probably use a q-tip and just make sure to leave a little space around the top bead. Then try not to rub your lips together much- rub it in with the q-tip and leave it at that- because rubbing your lips together would not only irritatethe piercing, but also risk spreading the ointment into the top hole. You could even try an oil and fragrance free lotion. But I would think that as long as you apply it very carefully, a less greay lip balm would be ok. And drink tons of water!I got a vertical labret, and my lips are so chapped, help!?
uh chapstick
Use any kind of chapstick, I have two lip piercings and I used chapstick the day I got them. It's not going to cause an infection, I promise!
vaseline works great for chapped lips.. idk about the piercing but for the chapped lips part try gently using a wet tooth brush to take off the dead and dry skin and topping that with a thin layer of vaseline, works fantastically
I have had my vertical labret for about a month and I have used a lip balm called EcoLips that I got from the local Whole Foods.
Ingredients are: Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Beeswax, Vitamin E (to help the healing), Organic Marigold (also helps with healing), Vitamins C %26amp; A.
I use a q-tip and just put a light layer on my bottom lip avoiding right where the piercing is and on the sides of my upper lip. I also placed a small amount on the underside of my lip to prevent any sticking (for the first week or so).
Hope this helps.
SideNote: I wouldn't put vaseline on any part of my body...but that is just me!
